Voting Tablet

The Setting:
The nationally recognized Trace Center has developed a voting machine concept that can be used by all levels of physically disadvantaged people. They need help to complete the concept and turn it into a working model that is scheduled to show President Bush in a few weeks. Can we help?
The Outcome:

1. BIT 7 develops a clean, unimposing design.

2. Fully working unit completed and delivered within a few weeks of starting the project!

Product development objective:
To adapt the specialized ergonomic requirements into a practical design. A fully functioning model will have to be developed, incorporating a beta version of a new laptop computer with built-in touch screen. The completed model must be capable of displaying, or announcing, an actual ballot and recording the vote.
What's Next?
If the concept is favorably received by The White House, the new unit could become available by the next national election. With sufficient demand, the design would be modified for mass production, tooled and made available to states not only to better record the intent of the voter, but also to help drop barriers to many qualified voters. The unit is presently under test at retirement communities and attic angel centers.
Design strategy:
BIT 7 Industrial Designers met with the Trace Center human factors specialists to discuss the application and special needs. Develop an alternative solution to satisfy the defined goals. Complete the detail design of all the housing parts in ProEngineer. Produce parts on BIT 7 CNC machine center. Finish, assemble, test and deliver the unit.
And what does our client have to say?
"We think this unit will be able to help us create new voting standards for future elections." - Center Director
